Longing to Fly

Handcrafted in sterling silver, this one-of-a-kind necklace features two butterfly wings set with natural pink and aqua chalcedony, connected by a silver chain with a natural green chalcedony stone suspended between them. Fabricated entirely by hand using traditional silversmithing techniques.
 
The natural world moves with an intelligence of its own. A bird flies. A moth seeks light. Creatures retreat, shed, hibernate, migrate, emerge. Their existence is shaped by instinct, environment, necessity, and cycles. We watch them and recognize something we do not entirely possess: an existence unburdened by the structures we build around ourselves.
 
Longing to Fly explores the tension between instinct and the world of meanings we inherit. We are born into beliefs, social structures, identities, and predetermined ideas about what a life should look like. Over time, it becomes difficult to distinguish what is natural to us from what has been placed upon us. This piece draws from the impulse to question what was given, to untangle what is genuinely one's own from what has been conditioned, and to find the freedom of moving according to one's own nature, recognizing that we already belong to the vast ecosystem of life, just as we are.
 
Only one Longing to Fly necklace exists, and it will not be recreated in this same form. Every element was shaped, assembled, and finished entirely by hand, resulting in a singular work of art jewelry that exists only once.
